The problem in HVAC
HVAC search demand follows the thermometer. Searches for AC repair climb with the first humid week of summer. Furnace, boiler and "no heat" searches climb with the first hard frost. In between, people search for tune-ups, heat pump information and replacement costs, if anyone reminds them to.
Most HVAC ad accounts don't reflect any of that. A single budget runs steadily all year. During a heat wave, campaigns hit their daily limit by mid-morning, while in April money goes to the same repair keywords nobody is searching. Worse, reporting stops at the lead. An install that's a large share of a month's revenue and a tune-up show up as the same "conversion," so nobody knows which campaigns actually paid.
Other problems we see:
- Ads for cooling services running in January, or heating in July
- No separate campaigns for heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, boilers or furnaces
- Campaigns sending replacement searchers to a homepage instead of a page about financing and options
- A Google Business Profile that lists HVAC with no individual services or recent photos
- Past customers with aging equipment never getting a single marketing message
There's also the capacity question. Running ads harder during a heat wave only makes sense if you have techs to send. When you're already booked three days out, extra repair clicks just produce frustrated callers, and the better move may be to shift that budget toward replacement searches, where the sale happens over a consultation that can be scheduled next week.
What we build for HVAC companies
- Seasonal campaign structure. Separate heating, cooling and maintenance campaigns, with budgets that shift as the seasons change and can be pushed up during extreme weather.
- Replacement and install campaigns for furnaces, boilers, central air, heat pumps and ductless systems, each pointing to a page that covers options, financing and what an install day looks like.
- Local Services Ads management for repair calls, alongside search campaigns for the higher-value work.
- Off-season maintenance and agreement campaigns aimed at homeowners in your area, plus Meta campaigns for tune-up offers and heat pump education.
- Google Business Profile optimization and review growth, with services listed individually and photos of real installs.
- Location and service pages that build search visibility for each town and system type over time. Our SEO checklist for HVAC companies walks through the basics.
- Monthly reporting split by job type, showing cost per install, per repair and per agreement sold.
How it works
- Audit. We review your ad accounts, profile and site, and look at how spend lined up with last year's seasons.
- Build campaigns. We restructure by season and system type, focused on your service area and highest-margin work.
- Launch and track. Campaigns connect to your CRM so each lead is tracked to its outcome and sale value.
- Optimize monthly. We shift budget with the seasons and toward what's producing installs.
What to look for (even if you don't hire us)
Use this to check your current agency or your own accounts:
- Do budgets change with the season, or are they the same every month?
- Are heating, cooling and maintenance separated into their own campaigns?
- Can you see cost per install, not just cost per lead?
- Do replacement ads land on replacement pages that cover financing and options?
- Are calls tracked and recorded? Most HVAC leads call.
- Is anyone marketing to your past customers? The cheapest replacement lead is someone whose system you've already serviced.
If you're unsure which platforms fit, see Google Ads vs. Meta ads for home services.
